You can configure both sides as active, as long as both sides are not passive etherchannel will be OK. Active on one side and passive on the other side is recommended configuration. Etherchannel negotiation process is a little faster when sides are configured as active - passive.

I would recommend you to check 3650 and 3560G Caveats regarding etherchannel (there were some problems with etherchannel in some IOS versions on some models).<br />

How to configure etherchannel
