Media Creation Tool and installing Windows 10 from scratch

First question... can someone confirm that the Media Creation Tool is for all license types of Windows 10 (Retail, OEM and Volume)?

Second question... If I get a Dell in the door with Windows 10 Professional why can't I use the above Media Creation Tool to wipe out what is on there and re-install from scratch? Why is that illegal?

As for the fist part of the question.... if it is for the free upgrades and the free upgrades ended a year ago why haven't the pulled the Media Creation Tool? At the vary least the Media Creation Tool does OEM. I used in on a Dell and it read the product key from the BIOS and installed the OEM license. So my guess would be that it does all three. I have an enterprise license I will test it out with tomorrow.

The second part... let's say the OS that shipped with the computer becomes corrupt. How do you put the OS back on and not violate any agreements?

Cliff I don't know where you come up with these attitudes but they are not appreciated in the least bit. I am trying to do things legally and find out how to do them legally and your comments are the ones that bring up the additional questions.

In the other thread you specifically stated that if I used the Media Creation Tool ISO to re-install OEM to a Dell  that I was in violation of the Microsoft Licensing Agreement. Fine. This question is how to do it legally. According to the other comments above it seems like using the Media Creation Tool is fine but you seem to disagree. That is fine too.

So let's go back to the original question. "If I get a Dell in the door with Windows 10 Professional why can't I use the above Media Creation Tool to wipe out what is on there and re-install from scratch? Why is that illegal?". I am sure all parties above would be interested in why using the Media Creation Tool is not legit. Please enlighten us.

Well Cliff... first off you have never said how to re-install legally. Secondly... for all our benefit why don't you post the part of the license agreement that states how to do it (or how it can't be done).

Correct me if I am wrong (and I am sure you will) but it seems like the disagreement comes from the media used to re-install. You are saying you can't use the Media Creation ISO. Fine. What do you use?

Once again love the attitude. I wasn't aware copying and pasting was such a chore and then there is the whole point behind EE. Asking questions and getting answers in case that escapes you. If I would have used Google I would have had to find a way to give Google points right?

So thank you for clarifying and posting. I am sure others appreciate it too. Maybe next time you can do it without attitude?

What happens when you use the media creation tool? Will the handcuffs click some day? Nothing will happen. Be happy with it. No activation problems, it just works. Do you worry about that? Really?

Look at Microsoft... we have OEM computers that used the internet to upgrade to ten.
slmgr.vbs -dli said before, that it was the OEM channel. We upgrade using the internet process as invoked by MS themselves, after upgrading on 10 it says, it's the retail channel. Is that our fault?
Cliff If you want to see a whiny little brat look in the mirror. I didn't give you any attitude to start. It was a simple question. Your history does show something. That you expect everyone to snap to attention and say "yes sir" every time you post. If someone even remotely questions your response you throw a temper tantrum like a two year old. You have threatened before to never answer another one of my questions. Please do me a favor and follow through on that threat.

Now back to EE. Just about every question asked here can be answered via Google. The lazy people are the ones that simply make a statement and don't want to do the leg work to support it. I know you didn't notice but things were "exchanged". Since the "exchange" didn't concur with your opinion you simply decided to ignore it.

Once you got over you attitude you actually supplied some good, solid, backed-up answers. Too bad it took so much drama to get them. In the future please don't bother contributing to my questions. It isn't worth the drama. Thanks.
@McKnife I agree completely. Since the dawn of time there has been two ways to do things. 1) Microsoft's way and 2) the common sense way. The way I look at it I paid Microsoft for a OEM version of Windows 10 with a specific product key and that OEM version is on that computer with that product key. I always try to be legit and it is nice to know what is legit but sometime common sense needs to prevail.

You seem to be missing the whole point in problem solving. There is always more than one way to skin a cat. I knew the Media Creation Tool way worked. In an effort to try and follow Microsoft's guidelines an stay legit I explored another possibility which you finally pointed out was the OEM's media. So now there are two ways to accomplish the task. You have to weigh the pros and cons of each. McKnife simply pointed out the simple and the obvious.

Just because it isn't your way doesn't mean it is wrong. I'll be happy to warn you the next time you respond to one of my question. It is the least I can do.
