William Gates
asked on
wired or wireless?
Hi, I recently switched to W-10 and used ethernet connection to modem/router. I was surprised not having to provide a ssid and passcode to connect, and wary as I am seeing my status as logged on to a 'local network', (my modem/router). My question is, am I better protected using the wired connection, or should I unplug and connect thru wifi?

Thank you.
Glad to help William, good luck
I'm going to assume your on your home network, If I'm wrong please do let me know. If I am correct and that is the case no wireless connectivity is no more secure than the LAN (Local Area Network) ports on the back of your router, in fact they are more secure; you can't access an Ethernet port from remote the only way this could happen is if of course someone broke into your house which at that point wireless security is pointless anyways. So basically do whatever is convenient to you, I have however included a few resources on how to secure your wireless security.
(Please note these are more concept videos for more info or tutorials search the make and model of your router and whatever setting you are trying to configure in YouTube and you will most likely find a step by step tutorial.)
