Destination Host IS Unreachable

This is a New sbs 2011 Install.
I have two separate networks at my home Business. Im testing remote login to the Business Network that the server is on so my wife can connect to the server from the internet.
Im trying to get Remote Login to SBS2011 working . I ran the wizard to setup server for remote access.
I can not ping the server name or IP. I can Ping other devices Router and workstations from the other network and that is fine. I disabled windows firewall and enabled firewall on the router I Enabled upnp set up fowarding port 443
I can access the Internet from the server.
when I ping the Server I get  Destination Host IS Unreachable
I dont know what to try next
Thanks

You need to set up a VPN into your home office as a direct connection will be very insecure. I use Cisco RV320/325 VPN routers for this task and that works.

ASKER

I put in a new router when I installed server tp-link AC750  I have VPN Enabled
If you still cannot connect, check the tunnel settings carefully and also see if DNS settings accommodate the VPN tunnel.

What VPN client do you use?  Or is it site-to-site.
Im Not Connecting
Tunnel Settings on Server?
VPN Is Enabled on Router
Check that you have a static / unchanging IP in the Home Office.
Make sure Home and Remote subnets are different (you cannot VPN to Home from within Home).

Then if using IPsec, make sure Phase 1 and 2 and Preshared Key are all set up.

Then again, what Remote Client are you using.

There are LOTS of complexities to VPN, so you may need some local help.
The server is not static that has to be changed
Im using remote desktop  created login in files from SBS 2011 install on a laptop running on home network not business network
What about some local help Im not a wiz on sbs2011
You would perhaps be better to use Team Viewer or LogMeIn. That means having someone in Home Office when you remote in.

If that does not work, you are going to need to find a local person who can help with remote access. Setting up VPN is not trivial.
Im going to have to find someone to help set this up cant use logmein
Thanks. I do the following with a Cisco RV325 VPN router. My home office IP is not static, but it does not change either. Most IP addresses today do not change much.

My setup is below. You need a remote client application to access the VPN. Shrew Soft VPN might work for you and it is free. I use NCP Secure Entry (www.ncp-e.com) which is not free but which is bomb proof.

Good luck

Print out the post above with the steps and then open the Cisco GUI, go to VPN and set up a Client to Gateway VPN so that you can access it remotely
