Unable to detach and reattach .vmdk file from one vm to another VM (HD and Raw Disk)

What is the correct way to detach a .vmdk  - HD and RDM and reattach to another vm in vSphere 6.0 using the web interface.

Works fine for HD but for RDM I think we have to delete from disk.
what error or issues do you get, please post your observations.

failing that just re-present the RDM again to the new VM. The data in the RDM cannot be deleted as it's a LUN on your SAN.
When detaching the RDM:  selecting  "delete files from Datastore" this destroys the Mapping file but NOT the LUN content.
However, be careful when doing for HD it will delete the  VM completely.
If you perform Delete from Disk for a Virtual Machine Disk (VMDK), "it does what it says on the tin" and removes from the datastore, but it does not delete the VM! (just it's disk!)
