Galaxy S5 Exchange activesync sound issue

Got a baffling one.  Using stock email app Galaxy S5 6.0.1.  One work account configured Exchange Activesync.  User complained quit getting notification sound on new emails.  I tried changing ringtone, turning on/off notifications in email settings, rebooting.  Then found interestingly that user is not getting notification sounds when email comes from his own domain.  I sent test messages from a couple of outside accounts, and those get notification sounds.  Send an email from the same domain as user account and no notification sound.

Can't figure this one out.  There are no settings in the stock app for rules or anything like that.  There's no folder sorting or anything that I can see.  Even pc outlook interface, user only has one inbox folder.

There are no setting in an Android device to make customized notification on email received based on domain.

Are you the Exchange administrator?

Yes, I'm the Exchange admin.  Nothing has changed there.  It just quit ringing on his phone when an email came from our own domain.  I followed Amit's suggestion and configured the user account on an identical phone and it works as expected, so I'm going to swap his phone out for the new one (remote worker so resetting to defaults and programming remotely isn't an option).
configured on another device, rings as expected.
