BitLocker key Lost Password
I have a client that has forgotten his BitLocker key on his Surface Pro 3 and his Surface Pro
asks for it before he can even get to the log in screen.
I have done some research and it seems as it is a tough nut to crack.
I was thinking a bootable program on a flash drive that can tell me what the password
for the BitLocker is.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

"I was thinking a bootable program on a flash drive that can tell me what the password for the BitLocker is." - definitely not. That would be breaking bitlocker and there is no weakness that allows it.
When you setup BL, you will have been asked for saving your bitlocker recovery key to a file or print it. Now you need that key - please remember what you did.

The surface is a standalone.
From the link I get the impression that I boot from a usb bootable or I remove the drive and access from another computer I might get access to the drive.
Will either of these work. I presume my client is Windows 10.
Thanks

IN a standalone, the copy of the key is the only way, the suggestion in the link deals with AD setup the user in question/key will be in the AD ......
Attaching to a different computer will not work in a standalone.
See the steps one would go through,

Check the surface bios setup, potentially if tpm was disabled, that might .. Enabling, may regain access....

Thanks people for your attempts. Thanks McKight for your help.
Could you find the recovery key? Just in case you couldn't, there still might be ways to get in if the circumstances are right.

I am meeting my client in a few days to see if it is in his one drive folder. Thanks
Is this surface joint to domain, or standalone?

On a standalone, does the user have access to the email tied into bitlocker cred?
