Office 365: what is the best way to search mailboxes to make sure a Retention Policy has deleted items older than...

Since the default policy tag will delete anything older than 2 years ...

I would like to know if any items (not in the recoverable items folder) exist that are older than 2 years old.

Other than Get-MailboxFolderStatistics (as this command is extremely slow), what is available?

Hello,

The default policy tag is to move emails older than 2 years within Archive, not to delete them. Could you share with us a screenshot of your Default Retention Policy with the tags associate please ?

Thanks.

That is not true.

There are 3 things a default policy tag can do (and you can have all 3 DPTs assigned to the same policy at the same time):

1. Delete (either permanently or allow recovery)
2. Archive
3. Voicemail Tag
Sure, you can have 3 DPTs in Retention Policy as your mentioned but the Default MRM has only Archive DPT. As I can see on my tenant by the way.

It's for that I asked you the list of your Default MRM policy with the associated tags.

for this tenant every single tag was deleted first.  The Default MRM policy is empty - we are not using it.
Policy: RetentionPolicy01
There is one Personal Tag: Retain for 7 years
there is one DPT : it deletes (allow recovery) after 2 years

However this question is not about Retention Tags, it is

...what to use to Search and find the oldest item in a group of mailboxes (without using Get-MailboxFolderStatistics)
but I don't want the Search to include the recoverableItems folders.
