Arcserver vs veeam

Hi
Had a nice salesman on the phone, reckons arcserve is market leader in backup and better than backup exec and veeam.
Any professional vouch for this?  we still suing BE and veeam for tape and VM backups respectively, although thinking of migrating from BE to veeam for tape also..
Thanks

WHY ? The best thing you can do, is USE THEM, and see what works for you and your team, in moment of crisis!

Have you tried and ENACTED a total DR failure ?

e.g. all you have is your backups ? (nothing else, no servers, no hardware, no SAN, no media.....no internet!)

WHAT DO YOU DO ?

Backup Exec eh, umm.

Salesman will say anything, I'm surprised Cheyenne Arcserve is still around.....

Veeam, Nakivo, Altaro, Acronis, Unitrends, all very good products.

Personally we use and like Unitrends now.

Thanks for the info.
We have full DR in place, which dont rely on any backups, so yes, thanks.

My question is around migrating software not DR.
Purchase what you find helpful to use. You didn't find Acronis any good ?

Our requirements may differs to yours, and you may not like Unitrends, which we feel is better than the rest!

All offer 30-60 day trials to grab your cash.

Veeam is very good, has been for many years, but others are catching up.

and yes you have DR in place, but what happens when it's all destroyed!

and you then need to use a Backup/Restore in Anger!

ALL vendors will quote they are market leader somewhere, it's called SALES and MARKETING!

Ha ha, acronis is much better since their upgrade from v9 appliance to v12, which uses an appliance and management tool, all a bit OTT.  Using it for a non-critical site and veeam for main site, hence why looking to ditch BE and use Veeam for tape.

What do you mean all is destroyed?  - We relocate and work from home..

True, but i expected experts to provide quicker response assuming some use arcserve..?  Maybe not, which answers my original Q.
