We have installed two Exchange Servers and these are seeing each other successfully using the Get-ExchangeServer command in Powershell.<br />

We are attempting to installed an Edge Server and were having issues with that. When we initially installed the Edge Server it would error out before installation with the following error:<br />

The following error was generated when &quot;$error.Clear();<br />
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;new-ExchangeServer<br />
&quot;&nbsp;was run: &quot;Value cannot be null.<br />
Parameter name: Cannot get child of ADObjectId: &nbsp; &nbsp;this is a GUID based <br />
ADObjectId.&quot;.<br />

After restarting the installation it would not complete successfully. <br />
This happened several times on several PCs.<br />

We found a technical note from Microsoft saying to take the Edge Server out of domain and reinstall the Edge Server. Then rejoin the network. We did this and the Edge Server role installation completes successfully. <br />
We then rejoin the domain network. However, when we do &quot;Get-ExchangeServer&quot; command in Powershell on the Exchange Server the new Edge Server does not show up. Also when we do &quot;Get-ExchangeServer&quot; <br />
command in Powershell in the Edge Server only the Edge Server shows up in the list.

Issues with setting up Edge Server for Exchange 2016

Windows PowerShell is a task automation and configuration management framework from Microsoft, consisting of a command-line shell and associated scripting language built on the .NET Framework. PowerShell provides full access to the Component Object Model (COM) and Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), enabling administrators to perform administrative tasks on both local and remote Windows systems as well as WS-Management and Common Information Model (CIM) enabling management of remote Linux systems and network devices.

Exchange is the server side of a collaborative application product that is part of the Microsoft Server infrastructure. Exchange's major features include email, calendaring, contacts and tasks, support for mobile and web-based access to information, and support for data storage.
