How do I edit the Parameters of a Connector Line in Visio 2013?

I used to use the Connector Line function in Visio a lot because I do a lot of wiring diagrams in Visio and before I upgraded to the 2013 version the Connector Line feature worked pretty good. It was still very frustrating at times cause it tends to have a mind of its own but now it's just a mess. It is impossible to get the connector line feature to work at all and if I have to edit one that has been drawn on a previous job again it is impossible because it wants to automatically go to the largest block on the page. I used to like the feature because it was a quick way of drawing lines and then had the line jump feature built into it. Now it doesn't work and I can't figure out how to put it back to the way it used to be.

Is there a way to edit the parameters of the Connector Feature. The help function in Visio doesn't even know what I'm asking.
Is there a way to get line jumps without using the connector line feature?

Attached Picture Description:
The first picture shows an existing drawing that I made when Connector Lines worked. Please note the green dot on the red line in the middle of the picture. I tried to move it down one grid line. The second picture shows what it automatically does and then will not let me move it. What am I doing wrong. This was not an issue in previous versions of Visio.

I used to use multiple connectors because I couldn't get one connector to manipulate the path required. Now I can't even draw one connector when there are any kind of shapes on the page. Before it didn't matter what was on the page. They were more freeform before where I could choose where they started and ended. Now they pre-choose where to start and if it's not where I want it to start I don't have any options. It's very restricted now.
Sounds very strange -- and not normal for Visio 2013 or any version of Visio. Does the diagram contain confidential data or can you share it so I can take a look? If you prefer not to post it here and make it public, that's fine; as an alternative, you can send it to the email address at the bottom of my EE profile.
Dave -- are you able to provide a copy of the diagram so I can try to figure out what's going on? Thanks.
