Try running System File Checker. Open cmd.exe with Run as Administrator and run SFC /SCANNOW. Allow to complete and restart. <br />

Also (and potentially more important): Update BIOS, Chipset and Video drivers.

Check the video settings of RDP. Open RDP and select Show Options. Perhaps change some of the Display options. That also points to Video Driver, so you should update that along with Chipset.

Describe that more thoroughly, please. You have one or two monitors while you connect via RDP?<br />
If one: do you use RDP in full screen?<br />
If two: does the other screen get focus (to test, maximize explorer on the other screen and see if its window gets active).
