Strategy for Taking a new domain and Wordpress website live
If I wanted to take my Wordpress site (hosted on AWS E2) live at 10:00 AM on a certain day, how best to do this?
Clearly the domain needs to be directed that site, and no one can guarantee show long that would take. Also, the real domain must point to the real site in order to get the SSL certificate purchased and installed. And I need to do a full test of features once its everything's intact.
But I need to hide it completely from view until 10:00 AM. I would like to literally flip a switch to take it online.
I was under the assumption that even if displayed a "Coming Soon" splash screen and hid the site behind a temporary login page for developers, that the entire site could still be consumed by web spiders. Is that true? Is there a way around this constraint?
So, I need to move the site to the correct domain but need it totally hidden until I flip the switch.
What shall I use as a deployment strategy?
Thanks.
