Sound stops playing in YouTube - Chrome

I have the latest version of Chrome, and recently I started having an issue where randomly, sound would stop playing mid video. It starts again if I start the video again or reload the page.
I updated my sound drivers, but that didn't change anything. I am running Windows 10 Pro - Creators update and both Chrome and windows are up to date? Any ideas?

Do some more tests:
-does it happen with a different user as well
-does it happen with a different browser as well
-does it happen with any video or just on YouTube.com (any vid. on YouTube?)?

It's not easily practical to test with another user, however as far as my testing goes, it appears to be limited to YT and Chrome. Not every video, but a fair number, enough to annoy me into posting this question :)
You need to be sure about what you see. Do some tests, make sure, or you will get all sorts of recommendations that you will be asked to try. It pays out to invest some minutes.
Interesting, given that a page reload or restarting the video resolves the issue we can likely rule out mistaken muting of the video (both muting of a tab in Chrome and mute on YouTube persist on reload).

Could possibly be two audio sources conflicting? Do you recall having any other open tabs w/ ads that started playing audio or something else like notification tones for an instant messaging service?
Try to Update the chrome and update the Flash Player then Retest.

Install Flash Player:
1.On your computer, open Chrome.
2.Go to http://www.adobe.com/go/chrome.
3.Under "Step 1," select your computer's operating system.
4.Under "Step 2," choose the option that lists "PPAPI."
5.Click Download now, and follow the steps to install Adobe Flash Player.

Try to reset chrome and Retests.
Uninstall Chrome and Reinstall then Retest.
The author wrote "It's not easily practical to test with another user" - oh yes, it is. If you say, it happens with chrome and on YouTube, logon as other user, open chrome and use it on YouTube.com - easily practical, one minute of effort. Before we have the result of that, no actions should be tried.
networkn, please return to your question as their are suggestions for you that you have not given feedback on.
