HP OfficeJet 8600 Pro
My OS is win 10 pro 64 bit and I have the above printer, cum scanner and Fax. I downloaded and installed the latest driver. The Printer works, but the scanner does not. And I seem to get the attached error whenever I bootup and I am not sure whether it is related to my HP device driver. Hope the experts can please suggest how to fix this.
thank u.

in response to MASQ, in my previous driver, whenever I hit the HP, I get a scan icon, and it will give me the menu to save it in the different formats before I hit scan. But now I do not see this anymore.
Did you try the Print and Scan Doctor ?

You asked for just the basic Printer Driver
If you've installed this you won't have the scanner functions as separate software needs to be installed. The absolute best way of doing this would be from the original CD that came with the printer as that includes utilities for removing partial installs of HPs software.
If you don't have the CD you'll need the full installer OJ8610_198.exe (162.1 MB) from HP this has most of the content of the installation CD that came with the printer originally - if you had Win 7 - 10).
(windows 10 64bit version here: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL51184/bi-124093-4/OJ8610_198.exe)
The basic drivers will not fix the scanning options but will give you printing. The full package should get the scanner responding again.
You can get an original installation CD from HP but at a price
Choose "Order Physical Media-CD/DVD/USB"

Thank u everyone, it was a herculean effort. I had to uninstall all traces of the old drivers that were causing the problem, and I also used Microsoft's FixIt, and finally reinstalled, and it now works like before. The scan icon also displays on the task bar and everything is back to the good ole days. Thank u everyone for your inputs.
You are very welcome and thanks for the update.
