replacing failed disk on V3700
Hello,
I have a failed disk on an IBM V3700. a new disk was provided under warranty but we tried the "fix me" procedure which has marked the problem as fixed. the disk has now been "excluded by system" and the new disk isn't being detected.
How can i resolve this?
thanks in advance
Jack

Hi Jack. I don't have any first-hand experience with the V3700. Even if I did, the answer would be along the lines of needing to have you take the disk out and connect to a JBOD controller and then run some software. The message is to vague. Sorry
Are you sure it hasn't appeared as a spare?

Hi Andy,
No it's a fully loaded chassis with 2 spares which are offline and 1 failed drive. I inherited this system on Wednesday and being unfamiliar with IBM and having no support contract with IBM, I'm somewhat up the creak without a paddle. I don't seem to be able to get either of the designated spares online so trying to determine how it's all configured without breaking anything

Will it let you set it as a spare?

I'm surprised that IBM would send out the wrong part, more common for 3rd party maintenance companies to do that.
