windows 2003 : how reboot server remotely

The server is pingable from my PC.

this server is getting hang frequently because of its OS.So, could not do a RDP session.

I have admin rights on server, Please advice how to reboot server from command Line remotely from my PC.

the server is hang means i dont think i'll work with the commands...

first of all find the issue why the server is hanging ? check the event viewer...

what is the model of the server i.e physical server is it Dell or HP if yes there is option like IDRAC u can use this option...

if commands works the then use
shutdown /i will open graphical box browse and select the server and select the restart option in dropdown box and enter..

If the server is hanging your only best option is to use a remote management card such as iDRAC for Dell servers and iLO for HP branded ones.

Shutdown command mentioned above will be successful in many situations where server is in a hang state/cannot RDP

My experience is that in the situation like yours, your server will also be hang when you try to run a shutdown command remotely and subsequently, you will not be able to restart the server unless you have physical access to the server.

In short, you need to have physical access to the server to fix the hanging problem.
