Bluetooth and WiFi interference

Hi,
Because I live in a small space I've been struggling with wifi interfering with my bluetooth devices.

Things I CANNOT do:
  • Move the router farther away: It's already as far away as it can get (about 5 feet).
  • Use the 5GHz frequency: The wifi devices in question only work on 2.4GHz

Things I've already tried:
  • The transmission power is set to low
  • Disabled Smart Connect

What settings can I change on my D-Link AC3200 router in order to make it interfere less with bluetooth frequencies? Some options are to change the wi-fi channel from 11. Other options are to change the 802.11 mode or channel width.

I spent good money on this router years ago before I used bluetooth much. Now I use bluetooth much more. Should I sell this router and get one which behaves better with bluetooth in small spaces? Other than the bluetooth interference it's been a rock solid router even when I lived in a much larger space.

My primary bluetooth uses are headphones and video game console controllers in case it matters.

Most D-Link is consumer gear, and you said years ago. Try a different channel or even a couple of different channels. Bluetooth is very short range so a different channel should work.

Failing that, try a different and higher quality Wi-Fi router.
I was just doing some measurements. My Wi-Fi router is 6 feet from my computer. It is dual band 5 and 2.4. The computer is 5, the phone beside my Bluetooth mouse is 2.4. I have Bluetooth devices on my phone. Nothing interferes.

I've dealt with the same issue quite a bit with my PS4. Having my iPhone (connected to wifi) positioned between my controller and my hard-wired console pretty much guarantees a crazy amount of controller input lag.

I have to keep the line of site between my PS4 and controller, free of any wifi devices. I keep my router behind my PS4 and all other wifi devices behind my controller.

I have noticed less input lag with my PS4 elevated 5' up on an armoire and in vertical position. I have noticed lag from simple obstructions, like just having a USB cable plugged in the front.

I don't believe this is related to the router, as it's occurred with multiple routers for me. It's just a weak receiving antenna on the Bluetooth side (or an inherent shortcoming in the BT signal itself).

I'd be more apt to get a wireless (not BT) controller if you aren't able to escape the interference, as opposed to messing with your router settings.

I am planning on getting a higher end WRT router in the coming weeks though, just so I can have a dual-gateway vpn configured. If that actually changes my experience, I'll let you know.
I do not have interference with good routers. In addition to the above, I have a client workstation setup were the Wi-Fi router is 4 feet from my laptop, my phone sits in between and both phone and laptop have Bluetooth devices.

What would you consider a good router?
We use Cisco RV 115, 130, 134 Wireless N, AC routers in our clients. They are easy to manage and set up and channel management is easy.
Update 1 : I tried all of the different wifi channels. 7 seems to generate the least bluetooth interference. There is still some interference though. It's most noticeable when I am u sing bluetooth headphones holding my tablet in my hand and running a speedtest with the tablet.
Is Cisco professional grade equipment SIGNIFICANTLY better than consumer grade? I swore I would never use one of their routers again due to multiple bad experiences.

I used to use Tomato on my previous router and loved it but had trouble getting tomato software updates for that particular router.

Switching wifi channels appears to have helped enough for now.

I still get some interference but it's not as bad as it was. I'll start saving up for a new Asus or Netgear Tomato router which officially supports Tomato.
Thank you for the update
