Why VMware SRM replicated datastores named with the snap prefixes

Can you please explain me why VMware SRM replicated datastores named with the snap prefixes after initiating Test Recovery?

Hi

I know this is an old question, but I had stopped looking at EE for a while.

The replicated datastore are literally SNAPSHOTS of the source datastore, snapshot here is being used to indicate a COPY of the original at a point in time.

They are prefixed with snap- so that the user is able to differentiate them from the originals.

When a VMFS is created, the value of the device NAA as well as timestamp is added to the metadata, every time ESXi mounts the device, it checks that the NAA in the metadata matches the device it is on, if not, it is called a snapshot, a copy.

Is this a sufficient explanation? I talk for hours about this but I am trying not to overload things.

Good luck.
