Thunderbird/Gmail IMAP No Longer Working

Hi all... we have a GMail account that we have been sharing the same mailbox via IMAP in Thunderbird Ver. 52.2.1 for months with no issues.  As of last Friday (July 14, 17) all of the PC's stopped being able to sync their email with the server.  They are all getting an error message that says "Server ____@gmail.com has disconnected. The server may have gone down or there may be a network problem."  I've not been able to find any indication that GMail is having any issues and have had no luck getting any of them working.  Deleting the account and recreating it works but it will not load any of the folders and still gives the same error message.  Accessing the account works normally when using the GMail website.  I've spent most of the day reading through and trying some of the old suggestions on old blogs to no avail.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Greg

Anything changed in your network recently?  new firewall, firewall policy, access rules, windows patches, thunderbird update?
I'm with Antzs, sounds like someone put in place a firewall rule breaking your IMAP connections.

Try accessing your Gmail account from another network, like home or a coffee shop.

If this works, then likely someone has blocked your IMAP/IMAPs ports.

Thanks all... There haven't been any changes on the network in quite a while and definitely nothing last week.  I checked the Windows updates on one of the affected PC's and the latest updates were done on the 12th which was 2 days before the issues started.  I also checked and the version that was installed on these PC's was version 52.1.0 and was installed within the last month on some PC's but others it was quite a while earlier than that.  The fact that some (maybe all though I've not checked them all) have been updated to 52.2.1 could be related though I don't see anywhere where it shows the date that this occurred on.  I will revert the install back to 52.1.1 and turn off the auto-updates to see if it makes a difference and provide an update.  Thanks for the ideas!
Windoze tends toward general glitchiness.

Try simply stopping/restarting Thunderbird. If nothing else has changed, this might be sufficient to fix your problem.

The other approach you can try is to get onto a Linux machine + try connecting to Gmail using the latest OpenSSL client to debug your Gmail connection + ensure it's working as you expect.
I did revert back to 52.1.1 and things started working again on the 1st machine but immediately re-updated back to the latest version so I had to turn off updates and do it again.  2nd machine I opened the program first to turn off the auto-updates and it was working fine.  This makes me think that the whole issue was a problem on the GMail server backend that didn't affect the web access.  In the end I did revert them all back as it was working fine after the initial installation and all have auto-updates turned off.  Not sure I'll ever know for sure what the issue was but appears to have solved itself over 4 days.  Has anyone else encountered this by chance?
The problem revolves around Thunderbird. If you read their issues that they fixed along with their known issues for version 52.2.1, it makes your problem make a lot of sense.
