I Cloud email password

A client can access his iCloud email from his iPhone and logging on thru his Apple Id online but cannot thru Outlook 2010 or Windows 10 mail since the middle of June. Should his iCloud and his Apple ID password be the same or not necessarily? Is there a way to retrieve his iCloud email password from his iPhone or Apple account? He is using a Dell and Microsoft Surface with Windows 10.

Has your client recently set up two-factor authentication on their iCloud account?

Yes...we are thinking that may be part of the issue.
I would assume that to be the first port of call. If two-factor is set up, they will need an app password to access their email form other devices. See this article: iCloud Mail 2-Step Auth and App Passwords for IMAP

He decided he would rather turn Two-factor authentication off. He was successful. Let me give things a whirl and see if get's resolved. Are you available for the next several hours Dirk?

Dirk I am thinking that turning on the Two-factor authentication it changed the password...his iPhone is the only device that has it. So when he turned off the Two-factor authentication it didn't change it back to the old password. I am thinking we simply need to reset the password...your thoughts?

In his Outlook for his iCloud account it had p10- before the imap.mail.me.com and smtp.mail.me.com. That does reflect the suggested set up. This is what I found that Apple recommends - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202304. Suggestions?

Whoo Hoo! We reactivated two-factor authentication and followed your instructions on all devices and mail apps. Worked like a charm!

Outlook still used p10-before the imap.mail.me.com and smtp.mail.me.com...decided not to mess with something that wasn't broke.
