What is the difference between a SCCM Application and Packages?

Hello -

I am trying to deploy Cisco's AMP client to a group of test users. I wasn't sure if I should use a new packaged setup or new Application. I want the client AV to be installed /s (silent) and put a shortcut on desktop GEI_IT_Protect_FireAMPSetup.exe /s /desktopicon 1.

What is the best way to deploy this out?

Thanks,

Great info! How do I force an application to run immediately or does it automatically? I created a application package and deployed out to a device group of test systems. However, nothing yet.

I want to install silently and believe if I have chosen these parameters, it should work.

Refresh policies on client.
This is what I see. Thank you!

You should deploy application as Required, not Available.
"Available" deployments are missing these settings.
THANK YOU!

Do all applications must go to Software Center for end-user to install or can I deploy without any user action if I provide the /s switch? Secondly if a user does not have a SCCM agent but I do see their device within SCCM and put the device inside Device group, will it still deploy to them? THANK You so much Toni again for all your help!
Applications can be installed completely without user interaction.
User do not have SCCM agents installed, only devices do.
You have to have SCCM agent installed, for application deployment to work.
Thank you.
