2012r2 Hyper-V Replication

I am considering doing hyper-v replication on my VMs.  Anyone using this?  Any issues or caveats?

I have seen a recorded demo of it and it wasn't very clear if both hosts had to be running to bring up the replicated VM.  It looked like you had to initiate the "Fail over" from the master host.  So if my master host goes down, can I bring up the replicated VM on the slave host?

Mind you, the BEST thing to do is TEST yourself - setup a couple of test servers and experiment.
