what is the best Internet (POP3 or IMAP) email provider
What do you consider the best Internet email option (POP3 or IMAP) for individual use? Why - what makes it good and what are its limitations?
Background:
We have been using mostly Verizon.net email. Recently Verizon transferred their email to AOL although we kept the same verizon.net email addresses. Service has deteriorated, especially for accessing email through a smartphone and the AT&T cellular network. Access through Outlook has not deteriorated as much although day-long outages have occurred.
We have personal Gmail and could switch to those although the lack of privacy from Google's practice of scanning content is annoying. We're willing to pay for a good email service. One possibility is Google's G-Suite although we would only use it for email and not use the other functions.
What do you think are the best email providers, including paid options? What are their strengths and limitations?
Thanks,
Pete

Thanks, you can use POP or IMAP. I use POP. Then you can get the Mail.com APP (iPhone or Android) and use that to get email. I use that. So you have the flexibility that fits your needs.
