Word 2016 - Search for word with accent

Word 2016/Win10:

Hi,

In a manuscript, I have the word "fiance" where the "e" has an accent over it.

When I search on "fiance", it's not found. Doubtless b/c of the accent. Is there a workaround?

Thanks,
Steve

You could try searching for "fianc".

Yeah, that would work.

But I have a hard time thinking that Word would not have a method to find accented words. (e.g. what do people in France do?  :) ) Thanks.
The secret is they have French keyboards. You could use the character map or use the CTRL key
accent grave Ctrl+`e
caret Ctrl+Shift+^

hold the ALT key and type 0233 = é

                ALT plus 0232 = è

                ALT plus 0234 = ê
Or you can type ^0232 instead of è in the Find what: box
All,
Thanks for your responses. We're on the right track. But I need the other accent aigu (right-pointing accent.)

Also, @John Marshall, where's the character map?

as i mentioned above (https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/29045530/Word-2016-Search-for-word-with-accent.html?anchorAnswerId=42224397#a42224397)
hold the ALT key and type 0233 = é

this is the ASCII (base 10) value

Also, @John Marshall, where's the character map?
ASCII table , ascii codes :

@Paul - My bad. I missed your 0233 comment. However, the ALT key (within the search dialog) seems to bring up a dropdown menu. In fact, when (as an experiment) I tried typing a word starting with an accented e, I saw:

But the following may work:  CTRL-SINGLE QUOTE, followed by 'e'.

Thanks.
I am getting old. That was the name used in the early versions of Word. In the later version, it is on the Insert Ribbon behind Symbol. When you click on symbol, the bottom item is "more symbols". that takes you to the character map. (Which of course does not say character map, but it is basically similar to the old character map).
You may want to create a list of the shortcut keys or the ascii codes for those accent character and tape them next to your screen.

@John-
I think I'm going with CTRL+'e.

The insert-symbol seems to take the search dialog out of focus, which prevents the accented e from being inserted.
The ALT key seems to bring up some dropdown menu when used in the search box.

Btw, the table of Alt codes is cool. :)

Thank you.

@Paul - Thank you so much for your input. However, since the ALT key seemed not to work for me in the Search Dialog, I can't (for the good of the EE community) accept your answer. I appreciate your effort, though.
