Does the PDF environment have enough ability (events and controls) to write a small applet and host it on my webpage ?

I have seen some games written as PDF, but w/o loading a bunch of software, I don't know.

Maybe Flash is what I should be looking at ?

Any help is appreciated.

Right, and what applet is this?

Java would be better if you know Java programming, but depending on what you want it to do flash may be suitable.
