Powerchute network shutdown Vmware virtual appliance best practice

Hi,

I've been tasked to setup a Powerchute network shutdown Vmware virtual appliance and have it shutdown my VMs in case of a power outage or thermal disaster.

Can someone advise best practises etc. When should the servers shutdown etc.

Thanks for your comment Andrew.

I'll follow the instructions on how to deploy the appliance.

I know its down to network setup but when would you have servers shutdown? Is their a best practise?
Before you run out of battery capacity!

So you need to work out what UPS capacity you have and we would advise shutdown if on battery for longer than 5 mins but you would know your environment and how long are outages before power comes back on

But also you need to factor how long it takes to shutdown your environment
