Unable to run install programs after they are downloaded.

Customer downloaded Citrix Receiver on her Windows 10 laptop but she clicked something on her laptop where it thinks its something other than a program file. Any quick fixes out there?

I sent her this already. She has installed it but for some reason the next time she installed it she got a pop up and she clicked something that makes the exe act like a data file and asks her what program you want to open this file type with.
If she can't run an executable that could be a different problem entirely. Might be malware of some kind. Can she open other applications without any problem?
no its a new laptop.... this person is not computer literate.... she clicked something and caused her own problem.
Try this, or try to do it remotely if you can. I pulled this from a MS msg board -

1) Press Windows key+ R to open Run command.

2) Type services.msc and press Enter.

3) Search for Windows Installer and if it is stopped, right click on it and click on Start.
