Exchange 2010 to 2016 migration VERY POOR Performance of mailbox moves

Hi there,

We have Ex2010 and Ex2016  running. We tested migration and the users are able to work on both sides. But the migration process is veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrry slow and exchange is only moving one box at a time. The others are stalled with "StalledDueToTarget_DiskLatency". We checked storage, network, antivirus ... nothing found that could be a problem. When we copy a file directly from one machine to the other it copies with a blast.

Ex2016 Databases are in DAG. Created a MBX out of the dag to check if it is the problem - no.

Installed Exchange 2016 CU 6.

Ripping my hair out :( Any ideas?

Regards,
Marcel

Hi there,

You can also consider using a third-party software that can migrate your data faster and also allow users to continue their work. With CodeTwo Exchange Migration you can move your data either using MAPI or EWS (as a source connection; EWS as a target one).

The product can easily create necessary mailboxes on the target side and migrate some AD attributes.

We just finished our EX2010 - EX2016 migration with Netmail. It was very quick and we did a single cutover, so there was no downtime for my end users.

We ended up in opening a support case at microsoft. They couldn't find the problem so they deactivated health monitoring on the new exchange server during migration. Thanks for all the contributions.
