Hardware on vms needs upgraded
We are trying to migrate vms to new servers that we added to our virtual center. When we try to migrate we get the error about hardware features not available. The vms with the issue are running version 8 so they need to be upgraded.
So what I am looking at is powering off each vm and the upgrade the hardware on each vm and the power them back on..
Is this the only way to do this or is there another way I can do this without having to power off each vm?

Actually we don't have EVC enabled..
The vms with hardware version 9 work but the ones with 7 or 8 don't migrate until I upgrade the hardware....
So just was wondering if the only way or the best way to do this is to power off the vms, upgrade the hardware, then power them back on..
I really did not want to have to power off each vm...

Ok that's what I thought just wanted to be sure there was no other way around it like via the EVC but then I realized that is just for CPU differences...

upgrade all vms hardware
May be because EVC is enabled in the cluster. Have you tried disabling EVC and try?
