cannot find Group Policy
Hi, finally got the green light to do away with a 2003 server.
incumbent IT provider set this up for them.
their desktops are influenced by folder redirection GP for:
application data
desktop
My Doc
My Pic
Start menu
I ran the rsop.msc and it identified the default domain policy\user configuration\win settings\folder redirection, associated to group everyone and the unc path it refers to for each category, which is great. however i cannot find any entries for anything in the default domain policy.
went to aduc, right clicked on the domain, properties, group policy tab. i see default domain policy, choose edit there are no entries under user configuration\win settings\folder redirection for the influenced folders of folder redirection
the goal is to move these source folders to a new server but can't until i figure out how to redirect it to the new place through the group policy its using..
appreciate the assistance

Just a swag... have you tried start - advanced options - group policy manager? Not that I may not have the exact path/names, but that is close. Once there, there should be, if done correctly, a distinct GPO names "Folder Redirection" or some such as this is not a default and should have not been added to the Default Domain Policy.

so advanced view in aduc did nothing to show more.
is there another method of getting to group policy manager in 2003.. ?
was under the impression it was through aduc only

if the tools are installed it should show in administrative tools.
if you type gpmc.msc in the run box it should open if it is installed.

it does not run and not under administrative tools, so guessing it was never installed.. awesome
what's plan B?

install RSAT on your workstation.
ASKER
non seeing the group policy tools in RSAT.. just installed to the new future dc and nothing in there
ASKER
unfortunately that looks like a bust.. installed the group policy management on the server, all good,
lunch it and get
a processing error occurred collecting data using this base DC. change the base DC and try again.
only issue with that is that old server is the only DC
