Blackberry Torch 9800 Exchange Emails
Hi,
Our user has setup her exchange emails on BB Torch 9800. She says her contacts and calendars are not syncing at all. Is this a limitation with the device, or is there an actual issue? Not using BES or BIS.
Regards,
Craig

Hi,
I believe it is internet mail. She has to put the OWA address in for connection to the exchange server

Hi Craig,
Does that mean she is viewing the emails in the handset browser via the OWA portal? If so, that explains why she isn't getting Calendar and Contacts because she isn't getting emails on the handset either. She's just viewing them remotely via the web browser. If she configures a BIS account on the handset and adds the OWA target as an email account, it will synchronise Mail, Calendar and Contacts without a problem.

She has the email setup via internet emails, but it requests the OWA address to activate the emails.

Hi Craig,
OK, that's using BIS without the need to log onto a web portal to configure a BIS account. Can you access the user's email account via a web browser on a PC? You should be able to type in the OWA server name (https://<<servername>>/owa), enter the user name and password and see the contents of the mailbox. Are you able to do that?

Blackberry doesn't work with active sync only internet mail
The above is not the answer from your own as Mike has already told you "If she is not using BES or BIS, what exactly is she using? The Torch 9800 doesn't support direct connection with Exchange ActiveSync so how is she receiving emails?"
