I use Word for Mac 2017 and export to PDF using

File > Print > PDF > Save As...

The file created is fine.

But Word also has an online conversion.

Is there ay benefit to use the online version? I prefer privacy and to do the conversion locally, but would consider doing it online if there were a benefit.

Thanks.

I prefer locally as well. I deal with confidential information so I would never use online tool to convert to PDF.

So, you lose nothing by doing it locally? No advanced features, for example?
you may find that you lose hyperlinks using an online app...

not that I am aware of. Did you ever try File, Save & Send, Click Create PDF/XPS Document, then go to right column and click Create PDF/XPS, at the next screen I select the location to save the PDF then click publish.
