Creating a VM for an already existing 32-bit Windows 7 installation for use w/VMware workstation
Hey all,
We were hoping to create a virtual machine from a 32-bit Win7 installation that is currently living on a PC that is about to be replaced.
The program we are looking to do this with is VMware workstation, which has a tool for creating VMs from the PC it's running on. But all the versions of Workstation I'm finding only run on 64-bit OS. Since I can't install it on the 32-bit Win7 install, I don't currently have a way to turn it into a VM.
So is there a tool or a version of VMware workstation around somewhere that would allow me to make that 32-bit Win7 install into a VM?
Thanks!

You cannot do what you want (as Andy notes above) so get a retail license for Windows 7 32-bit (probably on eBay - check licensing) and build a new machine. That is how I build virtual machines. Then activation is not an issue.
