thanks for post. without doing anything reverse lookup zone is replicated but forward lookup zone is not replicated after promoting the adc

Reinstall DNS server role in Sever 2016 and Try

You can try the below, but not sure whether it will work as all my DNS servers are also DC's so replication works out of the box.

Open DNS on the server with the most up-to-date records

Right click on each of your forward lookup zones and got to 'Properties'

Select the 'Zone Transfers' tab

Check 'Allow zone transfers'

Select 'Only to servers listed on the Name Servers tab' (check the 'Name Servers' tab to make sure your DNS servers are in this list)

Otherwise select 'Only to the following servers' and then specify your servers

Give that a shot and see how you go!

I am getting the error as " The server with this IP address is not authoritative for the required zone"

Check the properties of your forward lookup zone - is it AD-integrated (it should be).  If not, change it so it is.

Have you checked your event logs for errors?
What's the status of repadmin /showrepl?
