SBS 2008 won't download updates, or, it won't find updates
I have been manually downloading and installing updates for a while now. A tech did something to our SBS 2008 server a couple of years ago that knocked out auto download, so have been having to manually check and download. That has been working fine. However, today, for some reason, it is finding zero downloads. I know that is not right, as it has been about 1 month since I last ran updates and at that time I intentionally did not install the June and July updates (which is my normal practice). What should I check?

I click the link in the Updates Window that says something like "Check online for updates". I don't use the "button" any longer, as it is not working. However, the link does work. It is just that today once it is done looking for updates, it says there are 3 option updates and zero other updates and I know that isn't right. There should be a lot of June and July updates available for download.

Another point, we have 3 servers: 2 are Windows 2008 Standard servers and 1 is SBS 2008 server. The standard servers are finding something like 35 updates to download. The SBS is only finding 3 optional updates. It should be finding a similar number of updates...or, every time in the past it has found an almost identical number of updates. Today for some reason it only finds 3 optional updates and my point is, I know that in July when I last ran updates I intentionally did not download June or July updates, so, it should be finding those for download now, but, it isn't .
Hi,
The best place to start is "Windows Update" logs. Just compare that how many updates found in the logs and see how many were installed?. Another point is that you can not compare with SBS 2008 and 2008 standard as these are both different products and the updates as well get vary.
Another cause may the windows update components, you may need to reset them and try again https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/971058/how-do-i-reset-windows-update-components

Is that for Windows Server 2008? I am reading the "how-do-I-reset-windows-up date-compo nents" link and it is referring to several OS's.
Yes, it's applicable for 2008 as well. Run the fix up wizard or follow the manual process which should help.

Does IAStor.UI affect this? I am getting a message that IAStor.UI is not working. Do I need to fix that in order to make Updates download?
Is that your hard disk? or display adapter? IAStor.UI related errro appears if something wrong with .net 3.5. I hope .net3.5 already installed on this server?

Would a certificate error cause this issue of not finding updates to download?

Thanks for the input. I have a tech looking at it after hours today. I'll ask him about the points you are making.
If not that, what is the URL you are checking?
