SAN replication
What technologies are common for SAN-to-SAN replication?
Also when you use a backup software to backup to SAN, how would an admin map to the location on the SAN where the backup files reside if they needed to copy a file away for whatever purposes, if they had to? Would you typically have a VM with SAN drives mapped which you could navigate to through windows, or is there other ways in order to access the data?
In terms of backups, if you backup to a local SAN, and then replicate to a DR SAN, would that be sufficient, or would you suggest a 3rd backup perhaps a tape library attached to DR SAN in case somehow both failed?Obviously there is only so much budget.
