cloning a laptop

I have a HP 4540S Laptop with Windows 7 Pro installed.  I have a new HP 450 G3 laptop and I was wondering if there is a good software that I could clone the 4540S and then point that clone backup to the new computer and restore?

I used Clonezilla few times and it worked fine - http://clonezilla.org/
You have to first consider licensing. You cannot move the OEM image from one computer to another. Not permitted.

If the prior computer is Retail Windows (unlikely) you can move with Clonezilla, Acronis, or Ghost, but you would need to be very concerned about BIOS, Chipset and other drivers.

Best approach for sure - use the new computer as it came and install your software on it and recover your data to it.

No problems with and older laptop (4 years) and a brand new one?  How about drivers coming over correctly?  Do I have to do some fooling with it after it is done restoring?

so does anyone recommend doing it?
The laptops are SO different (age) that, no, I do not recommend this. You will be bring over a host of incompatibilities and problems.
Also, did the new Laptop come with Windows 10?  If so, keep that and move forward.
Thanks and good luck with your new laptop.
