How can I make Ibm ClearCase files read write on Window 10?
The files stored in ClearCase on Win10, are stored as read only.
On my old Win7 machine ClearCase files were stored as read and write,
allowing me to check-out and check-in a file.
On my Win10 machine, ClearCase being read only, I cannot check-out a file.
I get "Error Checking out .... No permission to preform operation checkout.
Must be one of: member of element group, element owner, VOB owner, member of ClearCase group"

Sara,
Thank you for your comment.
I have been informed by my ClearCase admin, that I am a member of two of the groups mention in the error msg.
Thanks John

as told you would need a new user added to clearcase since it stored credentials and not only user names.

it is some years ago that i was responsible for a clearcase system but i don't think the statement is true.
clearcase would turn the read-only status of the file to writeable if you were allowed to do the requested check-out.
so, i think, your new win10 user is not rightly configured in the clearcase. you must add the user to one of the groups mentioned in the error message. note, clearcase users are not only identified by name what means you have to add your Windows 10 user additionally to clearcase and the groups since the Windows 7 user cannot be used from win10 pc.
