SBS 2011 client computers not connecting to office 365 with outlook 2016 Autodiscover issue... cant remove from sbs
I have an sbs2011 network with 5 users and I thought it would be simple enough to backup users mailboxes to pst and migrate them to office 365. I understood that there may be an autodiscover issue but as there was enough posts online to overcome issue’s, I thought lets do it this weekend!
The problem is that logged in to the SBS network with a network profile, users automatically try to auto connect to the local exchange. I have tried a number of things to remove the autodiscover from the sbs server but nothing seems to work. The office 365 setup is working perfectly off site and onsite using a local profile.

Remove-AutodiscoverVirtual Directory –Identity “Insert identity value here”
Press y to remove
Also this command –
Remove-AutodiscoverVirtual Directory –Identity “SRV\Autodiscover (Default Web Site)”
New-AutodiscoverVirtualDir ectory -WebSiteName “Default Web Site”
Then I tried this ….
Go to IIS and stop the Autodiscover App pool. Then go to services and stop the Exchange active directory topology.
Then disable just disable it, the outlook clients will connect to 365 using autodiscover.
None of this has worked, I stopped and disabled all exchange services and rebooted the server and still no joy!
I would like to delete the remote.domain entry in the DNS forward lookup zone setting – no one uses Remote workplace, but you do get an AD warning before you try delete the Forward lookup zone, shall I delete it ??
I have upgraded all client machines to office 2016 the comes with office 365, all I want is to be able to add the office 365 account while logged into the sbs domain, please help!
