"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

That is not practical to do.

1. For sure, joining cable like this (joining the internal wires) will cause impedance problems in the cable.
2. I think the cable may be shielded and you cannot join shielding.

You need to get a new cable and then terminate it inside the old CRT. You may need some small parts to do this.
you may have to look up the connections on both - and verify they correspond, before joining them
usually, i do that BEFORE cutting the cable
