Reset Users Password on Domain

Hello People,

when a user goes to the lock screen in windows 10 they should see an option that says 'reset password'.

this does not show on any of the windows 10 domain PC's. why would this be?

whenever a user says they want to reset the password i do it through active directory for them. i know that users can go into user accounts and start doing things in there but almost all users do not have access to this location and is far more difficult for a general user than going to a button which says 'reset password'.

where has it gone - i have only just noticed this issue but could have been present for a long time?

Reset functionality is not there by default. You need a password self-help solution
Once logged in, the user can hit ctrl-alt-delete and one of the options will be to change password.
When you are logged in, and use CTRL+ALT+DEL, it is a password set (you have old password) not a password reset (you only supply new password)
Do you have any group policy which sets below?

User Configuration, Administrative Templates, System, Ctrl+Alt+Del, Remove Change Password = Enabled
Shaun: I don't disagree. But Windows never had a password  "reset" on the lock screen. It didbhave a change password on the login screen in older versions though, which seems to be what the OP was referring to. So It was a semantic request difference .

Okay so seem to have some mixed feedback. thank you all!

it seems like the option to reset the password on windows 10 pro domain PC's is not there. it was on previous OS but not windows 10 - are we agreeing on this?

i have no GPO in place that would remove the option.

as per some comments - this can only be achieved via a 3rd party tool a 'password self help solution'. it this correct?

if all above is correct then the solution is to use a 3rd party tool.

No, not without password self-help. Only other password change is when password expires

Yes, if you are not referring to password expiration box
"it seems like the option to reset the password on windows 10 pro domain PC's is not there. it was on previous OS but not windows 10 - are we agreeing on this?"

No, I am not agreeing on this...and I think is.the source of confusion.

There is a real distinction between *changing* a password (where the current password is known) and *resetting* a password (where the current password is unknown.) Windows NEVER had a password *reset* option on a lock/login screen that I recall. So, i disagree with the basis of the quoted paragraph.
okay apologies in the wrong terminology - changing a password is what i meant rather than reset. the user needs to be able to reset there own password from the windows 1- pro domain PC. on windows 7 this was seen on the lock screen as a button which was called 'change a password'.

can we enable this option in windows 10 lock screen or again is it the case of using a 3rd party tool/application?
