Mac Book Pro Not booting up
Hello I have an MacBook Pro (17-inch, Late 2011) it locks up on the boot up screen all gray screen. I am learning mac's so I took it to a local apple service center they are telling me that i need a logic board which run around $500 bucks and possibly a new ssd drive .... my question is I know I can replace this board myself but my concern is can I buy a used one off ebay for around 100 bucks or should I not trust used or cheaper logic boards for this device online? My customer is debating on just buying a new mac book pro if we have to spend too much so with that I am not sure if I should advise repairing
Any suggestions

Hello the service center that I took it to wasn't an Apple Store it was a just a computer store that works on macs.... Would that make a difference?
is there a way to determine the logic board is bad with 100% guarantee or there could be a situation where I buy the logic board and still needs the SSD drive? It's a personal customer so I guess I'm just trying to make sure that Ass Point them in the right direction

No. If the store is a decent shop, they would likely (>80%) give you the correct advice. The rest above stands in that the boards are made by Apple (their suppliers) and then you need to ensure you can return such board if dead when you get it.
