Are you using OneNote app?
ASKER
Yes I am and I've long discussions with Microsoft - no luck troubleshooting the problem

Researched with samsung and microsoft - after lots of investigation the only solution seems to be to keep notebooks small?
Nobody seemed to know why - not running out of storage space on the tablet.
Any new ideas would be appreciated

Have a look of the link above for a blog post on OneNote and OneDrive.
Are you doing the move below to share your notebook in OneNote?
"I definitely want to start syncing using OneDrive so I can get my notebooks on all devices, how do I make it work?
Assuming you have a .one or .onepkg file created by OneNote you just open it normally; you don’t copy the notebook to OneDrive first.
Then go to File > Share. Select (or login) to your OneDrive and press Move Notebook.
All the magic now happens and you should eventually see the shortcut file in your OneDrive folder."

Thanks
The notebooks were created using this approach
Synching went fine until they go large now they have the little circle that indicates they are trying to synch but updates don't work
Synching from my PC to the microsoft account on line works and the notebook on my notebook computer works fine
The problem is between the android tablet and the micrsoft account and ultimately the PC and Notebook computer
I use the tablet a lot to take field notes that I would like to be able to synch
Have consdered upgrading to the verizon Galaxy Tab S3 9.7 that has a newer android operating system and a sym card that should alow "continuous" synch even in the field where a WIFI is not available

Android 6 has a feature called Battery optimization which will terminate your app to run when the screen is locked.
Put both OneNote and OneDrive apps into Not Optimized list of apps in Battery optimization.
Settings -> Battery -> App power saving and select OneNote app and select Turned off, repeat the same for OneDrive app.

Left tablet on for 48 hours - still synching - Onenote notebook
Not sure how to figure out the size of files but the problem seems to be with large files
Is there a newer version of Android operating system that fixes this?
Is there a maximum Notebook size for android and iphone?
I've talked with both Samsung/Andriod and Microsoft - they could not provide a solution other than "split notebook into smaller notebooks"
I'd be glad to share the notebook if that would help with trouble shooting - not sure how to share it
Thanks for any help you can provide

If OneNote app is using the PUT method to upload the file to OneDrive, there is a maximum file size of 100mb for each notebook file.
You can try to download the .one file in a PC and check the file size.

I think the sync problem is related to how OneNote app are designed for Android OS and it is very likely that there is no solution at all.
