Can anyone suggest several programs that will convert a large pdf file to Excel

I have a large pdf file of that has formatting as follows:

Balance Brought Forward                                                $   123,456.78
Item                                                         $           1.00
Item                                                                      2.00
Item                                                                      3.00
New Balance                                                                       $   129,456.78

There are over 100 pages. Some with 1, 2 or 50 items. Some with just the Balance Brought Forward, NO items and New Balance. I need to convert it Excel. Any yes, I know it will not be easy or cheap.

Update: Testing various suggestions this weekend!
Testing various suggestions this weekend!
That would have been two weekends ago — how did the testing go?

Two more questions for you:

(1) In the example in your initial post, is the text (Balance Brought Forward, Item, Item, Item, New Balance) supposed to be in column A; the second set of numbers ($1.00, 2.00, 3.00) supposed to be in column B; and the third set of numbers ($123,456.78, $129,456.78) supposed to be in column C? If not, what is the layout that you want in the spreadsheet?

(2) The reason that I asked the above question is that without grid lines, many converters will put both the the second set of numbers ($1.00, 2.00, 3.00) and the third set of numbers ($123,456.78, $129,456.78) into column B. For example, I converted the "spreadsheet" in your initial post to the attached PDF. I then submitted the PDF to the online converter mentioned in my first post. It created the attached Excel file. It did pretty well, getting almost everything right, but all of the numbers went into column B — nothing into column C. Is that acceptable for you?
