car overheating

Own a 2005 Buick LaSabre and it overheats.  Cooling temp reaches 240 degrees.  Took it into a shop and they looked at the radiator and it was full of what they said was gunk and rust.  Installed a new radiator and flushed the system.  Worked OK for 2 weeks (lowered the temp a bit) but now it is doing the same thing.  Heater does not work which they said at the shop it was not working very well.  They told me to come back a few months later and have it flushed again.  Also, one day I was at a stop light and had the air on and the cart started to rumble and the temp light came on, my gas pedal did not have any punch to it at that time.  Pulled over  and let it cool down and everything was OK.  Do you have any ideas of what to try to get this fixed?  Is it a simple flush again?  I also added a bottle of water wetter and that did not help.

So get it all flushed and cleaned is the answer?
What if I do that and it continues to overheat?
I would take it to a professional. Flushing does not always clear out sediment and stuff. The radiator and heater core can both accumulate stuff and keep the problem going. You need to make certain (professionally) the system is clean and then use proper coolant with rust inhibitors.

what will this cost me? Ballpark.
Probably a half-day labour and any parts needed.  Ballpark - $500.

These all seemed like reasonable comments.
