Quick way to download photos and video from an iPhone.

Hi, I have a need to take a lot of images and video for a certain project I'm going to be working on. I'm going to use my iPhone 6s and a Smooth Q gamble rig.

My question is - is there a simple and quick way to download my media to a hard drive in the field without using a laptop and iTunes?

Is there a stand alone hard drive (or small device) that I can use out in the field while I'm taking my images and video?

Thank you,
Fulano

Simple answer? There is no other simplier way, until Jailbreak...

I would use my tablet.  Make sure you have a USB adapter, if needed.

The fastest way is to buy a USB storage device like the one below. There are many similar devices but the one from Transcend has a One-touch backup feature so that you can have all photos and videos inside your iPhone to be backup to the external device in one go.

Transcend JetDrive™ Go 300

Have a look at a review by one of our members in the link below.

Hi Jackie, the Transcend is a very impressive device. A bit costly, but VERY impressive for the size. I guess it's going to come down to affordability. Thank you for the advice.

I'm going to leave the question open for a couple of days and see if anyone else has a clever idea.

Thank you,

Yes

It is a bit costly.

For this type of purchase, my recommendation will go to the bigger players like SanDisk and Transcend.

I have done a review for my friend for a purchase of external storage for iPhone 7.

My recommendation is the above one but he selects SanDisk as it is cheaper but bigger in size.
Hi Jackie, do you have a link to the SanDisk solution he used? I looked at the Transcend solution, but would like to look at the SanDisk solution. -- Very good solution!
Jackie, I looked at the SanDisk Unveils Pricey iXpand USB 2.0/Lightning Drive, but that is actually more expensive than the Transcend version. Is that the one you reviewed?

Why I select Transcend?

I do not have bad experience with Transcend but have bad experience for the other two big players, SanDisk and Kingston. Despite all three big players have good after sales service, but it is only Transcend which has not yet gave me a failing storage. My first SD card was SanDisk and all my photos had disappeared after a trip and could not be recovered. Besides, I have a Kingston microSD card which had became read only and all the app data stored for my Lenovo Android phone on that SD card could not be recovered.

Data loss is a heart broken experience even if the manufacturer does exchange you a new one when you claim warranty service.

Dual connectors: Apple mfi certified Lightning+ USB 3.1 Gen 1*

Besides, the above hardware spec is the competitive edge of Transcend over SanDisk.
Anyway, it is your own purchase decision and normal consumer will go with the cheapest one among the big players if no research has been made as it is a rather generic product for external storage devices.
Thank you Jackie, I went ahead and purchased the SanDisk. I've actually had good experiences with the SanDisk products, so I got the 128GB one that should be enough for what I need to do and I stay under $100.

Thank you again for your help!
