Firmware / BIos upgrade on PowerEdge R710

Want to upgrade the BIOS/firmware of my PowerEdge R710. It is running in Vmware 5.5.

I have changed the OS to ESxi 5.5. However, I see that those file in different format .exe , .bin, .zip.. (eg. R710_BIOS_4HKX2_WN64_6.4.0.EXE ). How can I do this on my VMware ?

Should I download them on a DVD and select each file one by one in Lifecycle controller ? Can i accept all different file type ?

Thx.

As only few firmwares need to update. Should I download the bin (or exe files) into a CD and then select the file under Lifecyce controller.

Which file format does it support, .exe, bin or only .zip ?

Thx
.exe will work

like R710_BIOS_4HKX2_WN64_6.4.0

.exe will run under windows.  lifecycle you need to have the SUU unpacked on a USB not sure there is a DVD for 9.9GB dual-layer, and whether you have a suitable DVD player ,....

6.4.0 is the first in the series, there might have been a preceding 6.3.x...
What is your existing BIOS version.
One thing to consider before updating firmware on RAID controllers in particular is that you have the appropriate drivers installed first.
often newer drivers will work with older controller firmwares, there are times that an older driver might not work as well with the raid controller firmware.

look at updating drivers first......

Downloading the ESX specific binary files which would allow for the update to be run within the ESX host. REF Shaik's ..post.

If update is through lifecycle controller and I download firmware of .exe extension, it can't be recongized.

Which file extension should I need to download then ?

Thx
lifecycle I think you need the entire SUU repository expanded either burned to a dual-layer DVD though I think it would not fit, or once the ISO is downloaded, mount the image to make it appears as a drive and either share it
mount -t iso9660 file.iso /mnt/iso
or depending on your resources expand the ISO onto a USB stick....

You have ESX so you either download the BIN as was mentioned, and run it from the host. or if using lifecycle, download the repository....

Where are the SBUU and SUU as I can't it on the link ?

Is this a iso file that will create a DVD and use it to boot the server ? Afterwards, follow the steps to update the firmware, correct ?

Thx
under system management, look for "DELL EMC Server Update Utility"
