I need to install Windows 7, 10 OS on some machine through USB Flash drive. Does USB Flash drive need its contents to be in .iso format?

.iso format of bootable images are recommended for CD/DVD. Does its significance also extends to USB Flash drive, if i am imaging through USB Flash drive.
