Wifi Router signal Brodcast assistance
Trying to project my Wifi signal to reach 700ft with a beamforming signal to reach my property across the road from me. I was thinking of using a Wireless N600mW smart router R10000 from walmart. Would this be adequate or would this require a directional antenna to broadcast the signal?
Even if that gets the signal across the road, the receiving devices may not have enough power to send the signal back. There are devices made for that purpose with directional antennas and an Ethernet interface on both ends.
Check your current WiFi signal from across the street. You can use WiFi analyzer on an android phone. I assume something like it exists on an iPhone. I have one customer using his WiFi router placed near a window in his main bldg. and a TP link range extender in a window across a 5 lane road with another 20 feet of lawn on each side. The range extender runs a couple wireless laptops, 2 WiFi printers (one in each bldg.) and a music streamer and connects via ethernet to a Qsee POE NVR with 6 attached video cameras. All that stuff gets their Internet through the router in the main bldg. So, if you can get decent signal on the other side, you might not need special beam forming stuff.
